AI-Powered Analysis
How we read a NOTAM
A single flight can carry hundreds of NOTAMs, written in an abbreviated telegraph style that has barely changed in decades. FlightChecked reads all of them for you. Here is exactly how that works — and where we deliberately keep the AI out of the loop.
The AI does the reading. Our code does the arithmetic, the checking, and the ranking.
1
We collect, you don't
Automated
Every 15 minutes we pull NOTAMs directly from official sources, including the FAA and EUROCONTROL. Duplicates and superseded versions are removed automatically. Nothing is retyped, edited or paraphrased on the way in.
2
The hard facts are read by rules
Automated
Validity dates, NOTAM numbers and reference codes are extracted by fixed rules, straight from the published message — never guessed by a model.
3
The AI does the reading
AI
A reasoning model reads the raw text and fills in a strict aviation template: what is affected — runway, taxiway, stand, navaid, approach, obstacle or airspace — what its status is, which aircraft are restricted, and where it sits on the map. It also writes the single plain-English line you see first.
4
Every result is checked
Automated
Published times always override the model. Recurring schedules such as DLY 0600-1900 are expanded by our code, not guessed. Each NOTAM is graded on how difficult it was to interpret, and anything ambiguous — local time, sunrise-to-sunset windows, holiday exceptions — is flagged rather than quietly resolved.
5
Then ranked for your flight
Automated
A severity model scores each item for VFR or IFR, your aircraft and your flight phase — and raises it when the forecast makes it matter more: low visibility, crosswind, snow and ice, or night.
What the AI does
Reads every NOTAM on your route, in full
Condenses each one into a single plain-English line
Identifies what is affected, and plots it on the map
Flags what it found ambiguous instead of guessing
What the AI does not do
Replace the official NOTAM — the raw original is always one tap away
Rewrite, shift or invent times — published times always win
Make go / no-go decisions, or tell you what to do
Decide what you cannot see — every filter stays yours to change
Your flight stays yours
Only the published NOTAM text is sent for analysis. Your route, your aircraft and your identity are never included.
Where the data comes from
We read from official NOTAM sources only, and we keep the original message alongside every analysis so you can always check our work.
